Whittington Countryside Fair 2021

The Parish Council has with great sadness decided to cancel this year’s Countryside Fair scheduled for Saturday 4th September. The decision was taken today after much deliberation following the increasing numbers of Covid cases in the Tamworth and Lichfield areas. We recognise that a lot of work has been carried out so far this year by David Fone who attracted a great deal of sponsorship money, and Gemma Griffith who had successfully hired out all the stalls. Of course others have been involved. We sincerely hope that the conditions improve for 2022 and we can get back to running our usual successful Fair the profits of which are used to give grants to local organisations.

Footpaths on Whittington Golf Course

The Parish Council has just been informed that the Government has given permission to the Golf Club to keep both footpaths closed for an additional 6 months in order to allow the ground to recover from all the recent construction works. This will mean the closures will remain in force until January 2022.

Audit of Annual Accounts

The Accounts for 2020/21 have been produced and submitted to the Council’s External Auditors, Mazars, for their scrutiny. There are many documents, all of which are listed on the Council Tax and Annual Audit page of this website. One key document refers to the exercise of the public’s rights to inspect the “books” and ask relevant questions. This Inspection period lasts from the 2nd June to the 13th July inclusive.
