MESSAGE RE HS2 WORKS FOLLOWING COUNCIL QUESTION:
“I want to provide an update regarding the ongoing closure of Park Lane. Our works in this area include vegetation removal as well as the translocation of soils into a mitigation site, a habitat for wildlife being constructed to the north side of the road. The translocation of soils requires large vehicles to travel down Park Lane from the direction of Broad Lane. Due to the width of Park Lane we need to employ traffic management to ensure the safety of both our vehicles and the wider public while these movements take place. While we investigated the possibility of temporary traffic lights, these were not deemed suitable since we would effectively need to close the road for extended periods while our vehicles travelled to and from our mitigation site. As such we decided that closing Park Lane presented the safest option for us to pursue without creating traffic pressures as our works progress.
We understand that the ongoing closure of Park Lane is disruptive for local journeys. We are progressing our works as effectively as possible and look to remove our works at the earliest opportunity, subject to site and weather conditions.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Kind regards,
Paul
