The Parish Council is very concerned to be taking the necessary actions to do as much as possible to be a “greener” parish. This will include reducing pollution, improving biodiversity, reducing plastics and other waste. A working party has been set up with the first meeting on Tuesday 15th December to progress this green agenda.
The Council has approved to pay for a new Dog Waste Bin to be located on Common Lane opposite Whittington School. This should be installed prior to Christmas 2020.
The PC is aware of issues recently with the Mobile service turning up at different times to that advertised on the PO website. The days and times that the Mobile Service should be at the Bell Car Park are Tuesdays and Fridays between 12 and 1.30pm.
The Parish Council Meeting in December agreed to pursue the design and installation of a new children’s play area at Bit End Field. Three tenders were received and following a tender evaluation exercise Flights of Fantasy has been chosen to carry out the initial design work. The actual award of the contract will depend on receiving grant funding of which the Council is hopeful.
There will be a road closure in place on Darnford Lane from Monday 14 December until Friday 18 December. This has been rescheduled from the week of 7 December due to programme restraints. This is to allow safe access to our work sites to prepare for future construction works, which include roadside vegetation clearance. The road closure will be in place between 9:00am and 5:00pm on weekdays.

The Parish Council is pleased to announce that there are two more defibrillators available within the parish of Whittington and Fisherwick. These are located at the newly opened Sheepwash Farm Day Nursery (Sheepwash Farm Day Nursery, Fisherwick Road, Whittington, WS14 9JN), and Fisherwick Lakes (The Lodge, Fisherwick Lakes, Fisherwick Wood Lane, WS13 8QF). Whilst these defibrillators aren’t owned by the Council they are available for use by any member of the public should the need arise. The Council would like to thank Rob Gray for making these facilities available.
These of course will be a useful complement to the Council’s own defibrillators which are located at the Pavilion on Bit End Field (Vicarage Lane, Whittington, WS14 9LQ) and the Whittington Village Hall (Langton Crescent, Whittington, Lichfield, Staffs WS14 9LR)
