HS2

LM Community Engagement

Good afternoon,
I am writing on behalf of the Enabling Works Contractor for HS2 – a joint venture between Laing O’Rourke and Murphy and Sons (LM) – to inform you of upcoming weekend working near Huddlesford.
LM and its contractors will be working near Huddlesford to prepare the route of the new railway ahead of future main construction work. This will include using an access point to work sites off Park Lane
In order to complete this work in good time and maintain progress on the delivery of HS2, we will be continuing our work on weekends in October and November. Our working hours will be between 8:00am and 6:00pm on both Saturday and Sunday, with an hour before and after these times to set up or secure the site.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Kind regards, Paul, Paul Moore, Engagement Manager, LM JV

New Councillor

At the 5th October Meeting the Parish Council gave a warm welcome to Mike Kinghan who has filled the vacancy left by Martyn Bennett’s resignation.

Great News – Old School Site, Whittington

Nigel and Joanne Storr of Fodens Developments were the successful bidders on the Old School site in Whittington, and after a frustrating protracted purchase of some 10 months from Staffordshire County Council and a further 6 months to make some minor planning changes which was granted approval on Wednesday 04 June , are pleased to announce that a presence on site will be seen week commencing 15 June with their contractors Harrison Homes .

Following recent works at the old farmhouse complex in Streethay and latterly the conversion of the adjacent Anchor building both developments of which we are all immensely proud, Nigel has given an assurance that the site at Whittington will be completed to the same high exacting standards.

They are keen to keep disruption to a low a level as possible for the village and immediate vicinity but recognise that at times there will be some form of inconvenience. They will personally ensure this is kept to a minimum.

“We are looking forward to a start and delivering a high spec development that the site fully deserves”.

Initial works will involve the disconnection of electrical supply, making the site secure with hoardings followed by the demolition of the prefabricated building by a specialised contractor.

HS2 Construction

The Enabling Works Contractor for HS2 – a joint venture between Laing O’Rourke and Murphy and Sons (LM) – has informed the Parish Council of upcoming traffic management on Cappers Lane.
LM will be working along Cappers Lane to clear vegetation alongside the road. We will need to operate temporary traffic lights to create a safe working zone. These signals will be in place between 9:30am and 3:30pm for two weeks beginning in the week commencing 8 June, subject to site and weather conditions.
They are keen for you to get in touch if you have any questions. They are keen to hear your feedback to reduce the impact on local residents as much as possible – received from Paul Moore, Engagement Manager, LM JV

Fallen Tree

The Parish Council has just (4pm)  been informed that a tree has fallen down, blocking Cappers Lane. There will be diversions so be careful as you go.
