Parish Council Latest:

Good News for Whittington and Fisherwick
The new play area for younger children is now just over the horizon – the planning application has been submitted and is awaiting approval.  The playground will be at the west (Hospice) end of Bit End Field, adjacent to the Bowls Club, and will include swings, balance beams, hop stones, a wobbly bridge, sensory trail, scramble net, slides and a castle tower.  The Parish Council is hopeful that a substantial grant will cover most of the costs, subject to formal approval which is expected soon.

Funding has, however, been confirmed to take the village a step closer to decarbonisation.  A massive £33,400 grant from the Rural Community Energy Fund will enable the Council to explore opportunities to reduce the area’s carbon footprint, including collective low-carbon heating technologies which could provide heat to the majority of homes, potentially through a heat network.

HS2 Works Cappers Lane

Balfour Beatty Vinci will be temporarily closing Cappers Lane to complete several different types of surveys in one closure. The utility trial trenching surveys, will involve digging into the ground to establish what is underneath the surface. This will provide information on the location of underground utilities.
To complete the surveys a team of engineers will capture data about what is present in the area using a digital measure or camera. This will include recording location and sizes of features such as hedges, grid covers, kerbs, road layout and road markings. These surveys will help finalise the design of the new railway and to reinstate features where possible after construction.
