Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL)

The Parish Council’s share of recent CIL’s paid by developers in Whittington and Fisherwick is £3019. This can’t be used for day to day expenditure but must be used for environmental improvements that will benefit the Parish. For example , subject to final Council approval, it could be used to help fund the new Play Area to be positioned in Bit End Field or some other approved works. The details are posted on the Budget page.

Remembrance Celebrations

Unfortunately this year the Remembrance Celebrations can not be the same as in previous years. The Parish Council has always arranged for suitable Road Traffic Orders to be in place for both Remembrance Sunday and for the 11th November should this not be a Sunday. Sadly this year the County Council and the Staffordshire Police aren’t granting Road Traffic Orders and so there can not be the usual mass gathering of all of us who would like to pay our respects. Whilst we wouldn’t want to deter anyone paying their respect we do ask that everyone exercises caution.

A notice has been issued to the community informing us all that there will be no service as such because of the Covid regulations. The bugler will be there for the two minute silence. Mike Tarbuck will do the lament and John Smith will read out the names. The Chairman of the Parish Council, Councillor Garry Hyde, will also lay a wreath and pay his respects on behalf of the Council. If people wish to lay wreaths they may do so at any time. This will all take place on the footpath in front of the memorial.

Resignation of Councillor

Unfortunately the Parish Council is having to say goodbye to another Councillor – Antony (Tony) Ward. As many know Tony runs the Bell Inn in the centre of Whittington and at the current time that has to be his main focus. The Council would like to thank Tony for all his hard work over recent years. This of course means that we do now have to find another Councillor. If you are interested in joining the Council please contact the Parish Clerk by email

LM Community Engagement

Good afternoon,
I am writing on behalf of the Enabling Works Contractor for HS2 – a joint venture between Laing O’Rourke and Murphy and Sons (LM) – to inform you of upcoming weekend working near Huddlesford.
LM and its contractors will be working near Huddlesford to prepare the route of the new railway ahead of future main construction work. This will include using an access point to work sites off Park Lane
In order to complete this work in good time and maintain progress on the delivery of HS2, we will be continuing our work on weekends in October and November. Our working hours will be between 8:00am and 6:00pm on both Saturday and Sunday, with an hour before and after these times to set up or secure the site.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Kind regards, Paul, Paul Moore, Engagement Manager, LM JV

New Councillor

At the 5th October Meeting the Parish Council gave a warm welcome to Mike Kinghan who has filled the vacancy left by Martyn Bennett’s resignation.
