Getting here and away

By car

Whittington is 17 miles from Birmingham; 15 miles from Burton on Trent ; 117 miles from London; 3 miles from Lichfield ; and 21 miles from Stafford.

Whittington may be approached from four directions by road.

1. To arrive at the village from Tamworth and the south east,  take the A51 from Tamworth through Hopwas village, up Hopwas Hill and turn right down Common Lane before Whittington Barracks .

2. To reach the village from Lichfield the north west, take the A51 from Lichfield towards Tamworth and turn left  down Whittington Common Road shortly after the Horse & Jockey public house.

3. To reach the village from the east, cross the River Tame from the A513 near Elford  and follow the lane over Hademore rail crossing to join Fisherwick Road. 

4. To arrive in Whittington from Derby and the north along Burton Road, turn south off the A38 at Fradley  and follow the signs.
